30th September
It was competition results night for the first Open Digital Image competition of the season. Bob Humphries from Donside Camera Club was the judge. Rather than award points for each photo he gave a critique and selected a first, second and third photo and labeled some as 'commended' Here are the images entered into the competition

Portrait evening
16th September
We had an outdoor meeting. Meeting at the beach car park we went out separate ways to take photographs of the coast between Cairnbulg to Rosehearty. Fraserburgh Photographic Society have been invited to mount an exhibition in the Fraserburgh Town shops on the theme of the Fraserburgh Coast. This 'photo ramble' gave members an opportunity to get some images for the exhibition.
The 'Photo Fun Night' on the 21st was another chance to get some shots of the coast. This time we stayed in the beach an the prom and took photos with a few picture frames as props.

This meeting was billed as 'Know Your Camera'
Members had a set of tasks to photos to take using different camera settings. Although these were designed for members with new equipment or new to photography everyone joined in the fun of taking photos of toy skittles in mid-air, playing with the Lego and dinosaur models to see what happens with different aperture settings, photographing giant soap bubbles and falling rice. We even had a manequin head that was dressed up. This was in anticipation of the pre Christmas 'Learning Theme - Portraits'

And these were from Martin Hulbert
Martin had also prepared the pre Christmas challenge topics for members. The theme of the challenge was 'In the Style of... and well known artist/photographer' and members picked two numbers at random to find out which artist/photographer they had chosen. Members are asked to show three or four images on 16th December that meet the challenge they were given.
2nd September 2021
The first meeting of the season is traditionally when we greet new members and run through the seasons programme. This year there were a few differences.
First this was the first meeting for over a year when we met face to face and not through the medium of Zoom. Second we were in a different venue. The Council run JIC building where the Society have been meeting for years was not re open for evening lettings despite the easing of Covid restrictions. So we we in the Conference room of the Old Parish Church Centre on Barrasgate Road. Members were asked to wear face coverings and adhere to government Covid guidelines.
Lewie Duthie talked us through the competitions and the resizing of images and Mike Chandler talked about the Society website and Facebook presence..
