Billy Watson's image of a surfer was in first place with 20 points. Margaret Elliot, the judge noted 'What a brilliant capture – the concentration on the surfer’s face; the colours in the water frozen by the shutter speed. The detail throughout merits first place.
Second place went to Andrew West's photo of Ypres Cathedral. The judge said 'There are lots of details in the architecture to take your eye round the picture with the sole sitting figure to rest your eye on. It’s a pity the figure is on the edge of the frame.'
In third place was 'On Reflection' by John McRobbie. Margaret said 'What a pleasant picture of the swan and its reflection. It is just a pity that there is no detail in some of the feathers.'

Judges comments 'This is an extremely satisfying image. The image was panned and the focussing was spot on. I especially like the spray droplets suspended in the air. The background is not distracting an any way. Also, the letterbox crop suite this shape of the Osprey perfectly. The colours look correct, and the bird is well defined against the background.'
John Ashtford, the judge said of Billy Watson' s 'Big Splash', 'This image is just about s dramatic as it gets - and at the same time bitingly sharp and properly exposed. The surfer is positioned at the golden section, and the wide view gives just enough of a view to show the crest of the breaking wave on the left and the shallow water on the right. The surfer's expression says it all!'
He said of Alfred Cran's 'zipping along', 'This is a gorgeous picture of a mute swan, with detail in the feathers, so the exposure was spot on. And it is very sharp and well positioned in the frame, moving diagonally from top right to bottom left. You can even see the weed it has been eating at her mouth'
